Clean & Simple Cards with Diana

May 27, 2024
Welcome back to our blog!

This month, we’re featuring lots of different projects in the Clean & Simple Style. While there are many ways to define this style, at Memory Bound it typically means fewer layers and more “white space”. No matter how you describe it, Clean & Simple projects have a modern, artistic feel that we love!

Diana joined us last week with a whole batch of beautiful cards she made in the Clean & Simple Style. What a fun morning seeing all of her ideas! If you need a little card-making inspiration, Diana’s demo will do the trick!

So let’s take a peek at Diana’s Clean & Simple Cards!

This first card features paper from the Evening Rose paper assortment from Elizabeth Craft. Clean & Simple Cards typically feature a lot of “white” (blank) space but as you can see, white space doesn’t need to be white! Diana made use of the pretty paper for her card front, adding in a die cut butterfly and greeting to create this elegant card.

Diana also used patterned paper for her teen boy card, cutting a panel to create an awesome racing-themed background. She added a large stamped “15” for his age with a die cut greeting on the top. What a great masculine card in the Clean & Simple Style!

Diana is a big fan of Elizabeth Craft dies and created an eye-catching masculine Clean & Simple Card with die cut tools. The simple circle background grounds the tools and gives this card a Clean & Simple vibe.

Diana is a retired nurse so we especially love this next card she created to thank a medical professional! The die cut stethoscope forms a heart, the perfect size for highlighting “thank you”. The white background and striking focal point makes this card Clean & Simple!

This card features the versatile sunflower die from Elizabeth Craft. Diana used different colors of yellow cardstock on each layer for depth and interest. To create the vertical strip down the side, she used Post-It Labeling Tape (linked above) to mask off the area then applied different shades of Distress Ink to the area between the tape strips. This is a great idea for a Clean & Simple Style card!

For a bit of shine on the flower center, Glossy Accents is always a great idea! Just let it dry before handling.

Diana enjoys making cards in the A7 size (5″x7″). This next one features an absolutely stunning flower she made with the Florals 27 die by Elizabeth Craft. In the video, Diana explained how she used a ball stylus to shape the layers of the flower, such as the one in the Sizzix Paper Sculpting Kit linked above. She used the stylus on the back sides of the flowers so that the layers would curl downwards.

The lattice grid behind the beautiful flower was created with the Journal File XL2 lattice. Wow, Diana!

Diana used the Borders & Trims die to create this cool Clean & Simple Style card for Father’s Day. She added color with a light blue background and by die cutting the borders and sentiment from metallic cardstock for a bit of shine. I love visual impact of those three borders down the edge of the card.

Diana also showed us several cards created with border dies from Elizabeth Craft (linked at the top of this post). The Thank You card at the left features a beautiful border cut from a multi-color paper. Love it!

This card features the same die as the Thank You card but cut from white cardstock for an elegant look.

This next eye-catching card features glitter paper, Diana’s favorite! If you’re making a Clean & Simple Card, Glitter Paper is a great way to add a subtle sparkle.

Our thanks to Diana for sharing her wonderful Clean & Simple Style cards! We learned tons of great ideas for using dies and stamps to create Clean & Simple eye-catching cards for any occasion. What a fun morning!
