Elizabeth Craft Album with Diane

May 24, 2024

Happy Friday, crafty friends!
It’s been a great week at Memory Bound with a wide variety of crafty projects shown in our morning videos! We hope you’ve been as inspired as we are to try new techniques and ideas.

On Tuesday, Diane joined us with an update on the amazing Elizabeth Craft Album she started a few months back to document the year in her life leading up to a milestone birthday. As you will see, it’s a very special keepsake project that Diane has created with a great deal of love and care. It will be treasured for years to come!

In her video, Diane walked us through the pages of her album and described the products she used to create them. Diane is a big fan of both Elizabeth Craft and Tim Holtz and as you’ll see in her album, these products play together very nicely!

Diane used a variety of Mixed Media techniques in her album, noteably on both the outside and insides of the covers (products linked above). Incorporating different textures into your album is a great way to make it uniquely your own. In Diane’s February video linked above, she provides details about how she used rub-ons and more to create a completely customized cover!

As you can see from this photos, Diane is not afraid to mix and match products from different manufacturers! In her project, she’s paired Simple Stories and 49 and Market with Tim Holtz and Elizabeth Craft. She keeps an eye out for products that are consistent with the look and feel she has in mind, then keeps them stored together so she can find them when she’s ready to work.

Shown below are some of Diane’s favorite pages from her album. Be sure to watch the video to see them all. She has so much to include in her albums that you can bet there will be more volumes to come!

This two page spread is a great example of the textured, vintage-inspired look of Diane’s project. Since she’s working on smaller pages, she prints small photos which fit perfectly in the space. Diane uses an older model Epson PictureMate Charm printer to print her photos. Just search online and you’ll find lots of options for compact photo printers.

Diane’s seven (you read that right!) grandsons are a huge part of her life so naturally they are represented in this keepsake album! She and her husband Rich love attending their games each fall. Love the black & white photos here!

Another thing you’ll notice about Diane’s albums is that she prints her text on tags or ephemera, or prints on paper that she distresses with inks, stamps, and rub-ons. It takes a little more time to do this but once you get the hang of it, you’ll see how much these customizations add to a project like this. All these details contribute to the overall vibe of this amazing album.

August is prime fishing time so of course Diane devoted a page to it! Notice the details on her title, created with 3D Stickers from Paper House. I especially love how she hung the caption tag from the hook.

A huge thanks to Diane for sharing her keepsake Elizabeth Craft album with us and for all the care she put into preparing for her video! Diane has taught us so much about the Elizabeth Craft dies and stamps that form the foundation to this keepsake album, plus how to mix and match products you love to create a vintage-look project. We are excited to see the next volume in her album series!
