Last week, Peggy was back with another collection of the cutest HOOPS you’ve ever seen! She recently started crafting with embroidery hoops, using them as the base for beautiful home decor…no embroidery involved! On this visit, Peggy shared hoops for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and even First Day of School.

Peggy’s sweet THANKFUL hoop features one of our favorite collections for fall, Simple Stories Acorn Lane. Notice how Peggy applied brown ink to the hoop to make it coordinate perfectly with her selected papers!
Peggy has a real knack for grouping embellishments, and this hoop is a great example of her talent! Notice how she layered journaling blocks and cut-aparts behind her title piece, then tucked in leaves, birds, and other fall elements to add interest and dimension.
I love how Peggy used the white chicken wire paper at the top, a neutral background with a subtle pattern which allows her main pieces to stand out. This is such a beautiful piece to display during the fall season.
Next, Peggy shared a Christmas-themed hoop she created using a beautifully traditional collection from Simple Stories: The Holiday Life.
Peggy used a “chalkboard” quote from the 6×8 paper pad as the foundation for her festive hoop, then embellished it with all kinds of ephemera pieces. She layered the pieces using foam tape behind some for depth, then added details with a white POSCA pen and gems.
This would make a wonderful gift to give in advance of the holiday season! It would be perfect to hang on the hallway door of a loved one in a care facility. In fact, you could make hoops for each season and switch them out when you come to visit!
If you like a more whimsical look for Christmas, you’ll love Peggy’s hoop made with the new Vicki Boutin collection, Peppermint Kisses! Peggy added depth by placing some items on the hoop itself, supporting them on the back side with folded paper. (Watch the video to see how she does this!). We love the dimension she added with the open door, too. What a completely adorable wall hanging for Christmas!
But wait…there’s more! Peggy showed us that we’re not limited to making hoops for the holidays. Any theme will work beautifully! Here Peggy used pictures of her sweet grandson on the hoop along with beautiful papers and ephemera from the Mintay School Days collection. How precious is this?
When it comes to hoops, any theme will work! What a wonderful project to celebrate this big milestone.
